History of Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy |
It wasn't until 1843 that
the terms 'hypnotism' and 'hypnosis' were coined by James Braid
(1795-1860).
James Braid was a
Scottish surgeon working in Manchester. He found that some experimental
subjects could go into a trance if they simply fixated their eyes on a
bright object, like a silver watch.
But the use of trance
is way older and found in many cultures all over the world. The use of
trance has been around for hundreds of years but we're still finding new
ways that hypnotism can help you.
The whole story of hypnosis and
hypnotherapy is available in German and will be translated in English step
by step.
